Seamus Coleman says Everton Stadium is ‘amazing’Will Seamus Coleman get the chance to lead Everton out at the new stadium?

The Toffees have called Goodison Park home since 1892, but in the summer, the men’s senior team will be moving to the new 52,888-seater stadium.

Construction of the Everton Stadium began in July 2021 and the completed stadium was officially handed over by the contractor in December 2024.

Now, Everton captain Seamus Coleman has given his verdict on the club’s brand new stadium after seeing it up close.

Seamus Coleman says Everton Stadium is ‘amazing’

Coleman took part in an interview with the Royal Blue Podcast, in which he discussed a number of topics relating to Everton.

When asked whether he had seen the stadium up close, he said he had, and he described it as “amazing” as he looked forward to the future.

“Yeah, I’ve seen it,” said Coleman. “It’s really, really amazing, and a lot of good work has gone into it, and it’s going to be great for the city as well.

“But like I said, we’re going to be bringing our supporters with us, so it’s going to be amazing, the noise, everything that comes with it, it’s going to be electric.

“And as good knowledge of history has been here, and the amazing times this football club has had in the 80s, especially them amazing teams, it’s time for the football club now to look forward.

“You know, new owners, new ambitions, and you have to reach for the stars, or else you’re just surviving.”

Will Seamus Coleman get the chance to lead Everton out at the new stadium?

The Everton men’s team will bid an emotional farewell to Goodison Park on May 18, when they play their final home match against Southampton.

In addition, it’s not clear whether Coleman will be playing in front of an Everton home crowd for the final time either.

Coleman’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he has barely featured this term, making just five appearances.

This is less than half the figure of his lowest previous total (12) in 2017-18, when he was recovering from a double leg break.

Over the coming weeks, the club should be confirming whether Coleman will get a new deal or whether he’ll be bidding farewell to Everton.
