Conor Bradley has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. The Northern Irishman’s previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2027, but his fresh terms extend beyond that, and he has also received a pay rise to reflect his heightened standing in the squad.
Bradley‘s new deal runs until the summer of 2029, which puts Liverpool in a strong position should another club attempt to sign the 21-year-old in the future.
Liverpool will say goodbye to the other right-back in its squad, Trent Alexander-Arnold, as he joins Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer after running down his contract at Anfield.
Bradley spoke to club media about his new deal, saying: “To sign another contract, I’m very proud and happy to see what the next steps on our journey together will be. You’ve just got to keep your head down and keep working hard.
“It has been a fantastic two years [with the senior team]. Especially since coming back from loan and doing so well last year and continuing that on this year. It’s been really good. So, hopefully we can keep going and keep making more memories.”
Outlining his aims for the future, Bradley said: “[My aims are] to play even more games but also to win more trophies. I think the whole point of playing football is obviously to win trophies and be successful.
“So the more of them we can win, the better it will be for me and the whole team. Hopefully if we can keep doing that, it’ll be a good next few years at the club.”
Despite Alexander-Arnold’s impending departure, he will have to fight for his place in the team next season, as the Reds are expected to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
The Reds are set to pay the Dutchman’s release clause, which is believed to stand at around $39 million.
Liverpool head coach Slot was asked about the prospect of Frimpong moving to Anfield during a press conference on Friday but refused to speak specifically about the Leverkusen player.
“It’s going to be a boring answer,” Slot warned. “For the whole season it was about contract extensions. And now we are arriving in a time where everybody wants to know which players we’re going to bring in.
“We don’t talk about the players we want to bring in, in public, until the moment they’ve signed for us. We already have Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez, so it’s not like when Trent is leaving I have no clue what to do anymore, but as a club, we are always looking at interesting players that can strengthen our squad. That’s the general answer, I’m not talking about individuals.”
