Liverpool stole the thunder of Manchester City both before and during the FA Cup after it was announced Conor Bradley had signed a new contract, and Jeremie Frimpong was set to ‘undergo a medical’ to join the Reds.
While City lost 1-0 at Wembley to Crystal Palace, Liverpool made two huge moves that could be pivotal both in the 2025/26 season, and for their future moving forward. With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave Anfield at the end of the season for Real Madrid, the Reds have tied Bradley down to a new long-term deal.
The Northern Irish full-back had two years left on his current deal, which was set to run out in the summer of 2027. However, Bradley’s new deal now runs through to the summer of 2029, putting Liverpool in a strong negotiating position should any club come in for the 21-year-old.
“To sign another contract, I’m very proud and happy to see what the next steps on our journey together will be,” said Bradley after signing the new deal. “You’ve just got to keep your head down and keep working hard.
“It has been a fantastic two years [with the senior team]. Especially since coming back from loan and doing so well last year, and continuing that this year. It’s been really good. So, hopefully we can keep going and keep making more memories.”
However, Bradley will now have to face the challenge of Frimpong for a spot in Liverpool’s starting XI.
On Saturday, it was reported the Reds will activate the Bayer Leverkusen full-back’s release fee clause which is worth $39.3 million (£29.6m/€35m), with Frimpong set to undergo a medical ahead of signing a 5-year-deal with Liverpool.
On Friday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was asked about Frimpong joining the Reds after having been linked with a move to Anfield.
However, the Dutchman would not be drawn on the potential arrival of his compatriot, refusing to speak specifically about the Leverkusen defender.
“It’s going to be a boring answer,” Slot said.

“For the whole season it was about contract extensions. And now we are arriving in a time where everybody wants to know which players we’re going to bring in.
“We don’t talk about the players we want to bring in, in public, until the moment they’ve signed for us.
“We already have Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez, so it’s not like when Trent is leaving I have no clue what to do anymore, but as a club, we are always looking at interesting players that can strengthen our squad. That’s the general answer, I’m not talking about individuals.”
