Raskin Gets 9, Butland With 5 | Rangers Players Rated In Their Draw Against Hibernian

Rangers travelled to Hibernian this afternoon in the final gameweek of the 2024-25 season. While it was a dead rubber fixture for both teams, the Gers could not seek revenge for last month’s Ibrox setback despite leading twice at Easter Road. Kieron Bowie controversially cancelled out Cyriel Dessers’ early goal, but the majestic Nicolas Raskin restored the lead minutes into the second half. The jubilation was short-lived, as Martin Boyle made it all square just over the hour mark.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their 2-2 draw against Hibernian.

Jack Butland: 5

Could have done little to stop Bowie’s goal, but he must take the blame for his lack of effort in saving Boyle’s equaliser. The Gers must decide whether to rely on him next season as the first-choice custodian.

James Tavernier: 7.5

Had a decent outing down the right with persistent overlapping runs, crosses, link-up play and set-pieces. His cross following a corner resulted in Raskin’s goal.

John Souttar: 6.5

Was not convincing enough in the heart of the backline, but he still managed the most passes in the match. His header forced Jordan Smith to make a save moments before Boyle’s goal.

Leon Balogun: 6

The 37-year-old centre-back could not handle the load of two games in three days. Was unable to continue and made way for Robin Propper within 10 minutes into the game.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo: 7

His first start since last year’s injury, as Jefte, the Gers’ preferred left fullback, missed the trip with a hamstring strain. Looked nervous in the early minutes, but the young Dutchman showed his calmness and composure in defence and attack as the game progressed.

Connor Barron: 7

Was combative deep down the midfield with several tackles, blocks, duels and clearances. Misplaced a few passes while trying to find his teammates high up the pitch.

Nicolas Raskin: 9

The boisterous Belgian was denied a goal in the first half, and the move, which originated from Hibs’ controversial goalline clearance, resulted in Bowie’s first-half equaliser. But he laid it on for Dessers minutes after the kick-off and then fired in soon after the break with a thumping header. Was replaced by Bailey Rice late in the game.

Vaclav Cerny: 7

Forced Smith to make a couple of saves. Created a few chances from the right, but the Wolfsburg loanee lacked accuracy with his crosses and dribbling attempts.

Mohamed Diomande: 6.5

Was well-contained by Hibs, as the Ivorian was not allowed enough free space to make runs and create chances in and around the attacking third. Was replaced by Tom Lawrence early into the second half.

Danilo: 7

Was handed a rare start amid Hamza Igamane’s fitness woes. Unlucky not to score as he got denied twice by Smith, including one in the closing minutes, which looked certain to find the target.

Cyriel Dessers: 8

Continued his great scoring streak till the final game of the season. Had the fewest touches of any outfield player to play 90 minutes, but the Nigerian did his job by swiftly finding the target soon after the kick-off.

Rangers Subs vs Hibernian

Robin Propper: 6

Was shaky in deep defence against Hibs’ lethal attacking pair of Boyle and Bowie.

Tom Lawrence: 6

Failed to make a difference since replacing Diomande in the ‘number 10’ role.

Bailey Rice:

Played too little to warrant a rating.

Oscar Cortes:

Played too little to warrant a rating.
