Arsenal sanction first summer departure

1 Min Read

It is expected to be a busy summer at Arsenal, with plenty of outgoings as well as incomings.

And the first of those departures has already been sanctioned with Nuno Tavares set to join Lazio in a permanent deal, although reports suggest that they may immediately sell the Portuguese under-21 international.

Should that be the case Arsenal would be covered because his loan agreement includes a 25% sell-on clause.

Signed from Benfica in 2022, Tavares made 28 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, but some fans would have forgotten all about him, as he then embarked on a series of loans, first to Marseille, and then briefly Nottingham Forest, before establishing himself in Italy.

He is expected to be the first of several left backs heading out the Emirates exit door in the weeks ahead. Kieran Tierney is heading back to Celtic whilst Oleksandr Zinchenko is being linked with a move to the Bundesliga and Borussia Dortmund.
