Exclusive: How Morgan Rogers could now feel about leaving Aston Villa after strong interest from Liverpool

4 Min Read

TBR Football can exclusively reveal how Morgan Rogers could potentially feel about exiting Aston Villa as Liverpool are interested in snapping him up.

Villa would like to keep Rogers in the summer but this season, he has emerged as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

Unai Emery loves Rogers and has pointed out how the Englishman’s tactical intelligence has made him extremely reliable for him and very consistent as a whole.

As a result, the former West Bromwich Albion wonderkid has caught Liverpool’s eye.

However, there is a growing feeling about how Morgan Rogers could decide his future.

Morgan Rogers could snub Liverpool move to stay at Aston Villa

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey feels that despite Rogers attracting interest from Liverpool, he could reject a move to Merseyside in favour of continuing his stay at Aston Villa.

Bailey believes that Rogers, who has been likened to Wayne Rooney could opt to stay at Villa purely because several players are reticent about making big moves as a lack of playing time could put their chances of going to the 2026 World Cup at risk.

The transfer expert explained: “Liverpool love Morgan Rogers, there’s no getting away from that.”

“But it’s highly unlikely that Rogers leaves for more than one reason. With a lot of these players, the feedback I’m getting from the players’ camps is that they are very mindful that we’re in a World Cup cycle now.”

“So someone like Rogers…if he leaves now, if he goes to Liverpool for instance, then playing devil’s advocate and it doesn’t work out, he’s not going to the World Cup.”

How much Liverpool could have to pay to sign Rogers

Even Arsenal are interested in signing Rogers as he has become one of the most sought-after attackers in the league since moving to Villa.

Aged just 22 and having impressed both as a number 10 and out wide in the Premier League and the Champions League, it is easy to see why the youngster is catching the eye.

Even Pep Guardiola described Rogers as “exceptional” as well as he appears to be a potential world-class player in the making.

While it seems like Rogers could stay at Aston Villa, if Liverpool decide to make a move for him, they may have to pay as much as £100 million this summer.

Graeme Bailey stated: “But if he stays with Emery for the next 12 months, he’s going to go. Of course he is. So I don’t think we’ll see Morgan Rogers leave. Not just because it’ll cost £100 million, which it would because a deal would be similar to Jack Grealish-type level, but it’s a World Cup year.”
