This story has more twists and turns than the “Audi”-bon.
Sports clubs and franchises around the globe have been masterful in crafting corporate sponsorships to bring in guaranteed revenue. It’s hard to remember a match when advertisements weren’t plastered all around the field. Bayern Munich has big deals with T-Mobile, Adidas, Allianz, Audi, and a variety of smaller partners.
A recent report suggested that BMW was exploring the possibility of buying out Audi’s partnership to become the exclusive auto partner for Bayern. Maximilian Koch has confirmed the end result of that behind-the-scenes negotiation (via @iMiaSanMia):
Audi are set to remain Bayern’s main car sponsor and shareholder (contract until 2029). There’s no truth to rumours of BMW possibly replacing Audi before the end of the contract.
Never forget the sweet MLS partnership where Audi inserted the four circles from the company’s logo every time there was a goal.
Hopefully, Bayern’s red Audi will be busy this summer transporting some new signees, like Florian Wirtz or Jonathan Tah.
