Manchester United have reportedly put together two transfer shortlists for the summer window, with the club’s activity in the upcoming market depending on their result in next week’s Europa League final.

The Red Devils have had a disastrous 2024-25 Premier League campaign, sitting down in 16th spot in the table, but their season would be saved by triumphing in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week.

According to The Mirror, Man United have put together two lists of transfer targets, and the players that will be targeted depends on whether the club secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign.

The Red Devils will have a much healthier transfer budget if they beat Spurs in the Europa League final, and it would undoubtedly boost morale at Old Trafford ahead of the team’s final match of the Premier League season against Aston Villa.

Ruben Amorim‘s position as head coach of the 20-time English champions is believed to be safe despite the team’s struggles, with the Portuguese set to be given the chance to bring in players to fit his 3-4-3 system.

Man United ‘have two transfer shortlists’

Man United are expected to invest in their attack this summer, as it has been a hugely problematic area for the team this season, with Rasmus Hojlund struggling to make his mark as the starting centre-forward.

Ipswich Town‘s Liam Delap is believed to be the team’s leading target when it comes to the striker position, and he is available for £30m this summer due to a release clause in his contract.

However, a bigger name, potentially Napoli‘s Victor Osimhen, may be targeted if the club are able to secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign.

Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Matheus Cunha, Brentford‘s Bryan Mbeumo and Crystal Palace‘s Eberechi Eze are also allegedly targets for Man United when it comes to the forward positions in the team.

Will Man United sign a central midfielder this summer?

Casemiro‘s form in recent months has been strong, particularly in the Europa League, and there is every chance that the midfielder will spend another campaign with the Red Devils.

However, Christian Eriksen is set to leave on a free transfer, while there is huge uncertainty when it comes to the future of Kobbie Mainoo, with the England international being linked with a departure.

Manuel Ugarte‘s on-the-ball qualities also continue to be questioned, and there is every chance that a new central midfielder will be targeted – one capable of moving the ball through the lines.

A new goalkeeper and a centre-back could also potentially arrive as part of a very busy transfer window, but the team will seemingly be shopping in a different market if they are able to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
