Manchester United Transfer News: The summer is beginning to set up its first plots, and already the numbers and names are being bandied about. Some clubs are preparing decisive moves, while others are simply testing the waters. Amidst rumours, speculation and possible negotiations, the spotlight is now on a young Dutchman who has been excelling in Germany.

Xavi Simons, after a solid season at RB Leipzig, is once again on the radar of European football’s big guns. As the transfer window approaches, interest in him is growing in intensity. In this situation, several big teams are starting to make moves, although the most surprising is one from England.

Manchester United Are Ready To Bid €135 Million For Xavi Simons

Fichajes has reported that Manchester United could have launched a bid of around €135 million for Simons. This amount would far exceed the estimated value of the player. Although there are no official confirmations, there is talk that Leipzig, who will not be playing in European competition next season, would welcome such a fee.

However, other sources suggest that the real price would be around €75 million. Either way, the Dutchman is very close to leaving the Bundesliga. His current contract expires in 2027, but his situation suggests an imminent exit. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also following him.

From a sporting point of view, the thought of Xavi Simons in the 3-4-2-1 system used by Amorim this season opens several debates. In that structure, the youngster would fit well as one of the two midfielders behind the centre-forward. He is mobile, reads space well and is good with his forward passes.

In addition, Simons offers creativity and a considerable number of goals and assists. However, his role cannot be reduced to attacking. In a team looking for high pressing and quick transitions, Simons should also adapt to demands without the ball. There is a question mark over his ability to sustain that intensity for long stretches of the game.

Is It A Good Decision?

On the other hand, there is also a financial and strategic angle that deserves analysis. Manchester United are not at their best financially, and the figure mentioned represents a strong, almost risky gamble. Does it make sense to spend €135 million on a 22-year-old player? In the current context, where the club need to reinforce other areas of the pitch, maybe not. Investing so much in a profile that is still developing can pay off, but it also has its risks. The lack of European competition for Leipzig facilitates the operation, but that does not justify going beyond the real value of the player.

However, if the long-term project is taken into account, Simons represents an interesting option. He can grow, become a regular starter and give the team attacking variants. Even so, such an investment would require him to perform immediately, something that is not always the case with youngsters arriving in the Premier League. From another perspective, it could also be seen as a political manoeuvre by the club to send a message after another inconsistent season. Showing ambition through a media signing has always been part of their communication strategy. But between discourse and reality, the gap is long. And here, that gap seems too wide.
