Newcastle fans claim they were ‘playing with ten men’ after one player’s performance against Arsenal

Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after watching their team’s performance against Arsenal.

On Sunday afternoon, the race for next season’s Champions League continued as Arsenal welcomed Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium.

During what was a cagey affair, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced a series of brilliant saves to deny the Magpies.

In the second half, Arsenal took the lead thanks to a wonderful effort by Declan Rice in the 55th minute.

Eddie Howe’s men huffed and puffed for an equaliser but were faced with a stubborn Gunners defence.

In the end, the hosts managed to hold on for a much-needed 1-0 win.

Reacting on social media, Newcastle fans were left unimpressed with the performance of striker Callum Wilson, who started in the absence of Alexander Isak.

However, the Englishman was unable to impact the match and was replaced by William Osula with 64 minutes on the clock.

One fan said: “Callum Wilson cannot be given a new contract, it really is time to move on, offers absolutely nothing anymore.”

Another tweeted: “2025 Callum Wilson is actually sad to see, he’s as much use as a handbrake on a canoe. We’re playing with 10 here.”

A third fan added: “Genuinely hope I never see Callum Wilson in a Newcastle shirt again.”

Someone else wrote: “Callum Wilson has been a good servant to the club but that should be that. Finished.”

A fifth commented: “What does Callum Wilson offer?”

Another fan said: “I know Arsenal have word world-class back four, but that’s why Callum Wilson is no good for us

“Newc had all the chances in the first half and dominated, and he was nowhere to be seen.”

As a result of their victory over Newcastle, Arsenal moved up to 71 points in the Premier League, confirming their place in next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, the Magpies remained in third place with 66 points, level with the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa.
