Kimmich sends out a persuasive message for the German winger to stay in Munich
Bayern Munich are at a pensive juncture as far transfers are concerned. A lot of uncertainty followed by several twists has set a lot of drama in motion. What started as an impressive and determined salary-cut extension has turned on its head. With Sané having rejected the latest offer from Bayern, Joshua Kimmich has jumped in to help retain his friend and colleague in Munich.
In a post-match interview with Sky’s Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) after the final game of the season, Joshua Kimmich weighed in on the many benefits of continuing to play at Bayern. Kimmich said, “I spoke to him. When you see how we’ve played this season, I, as a player at this team and also if I were a player of another club, would be keen to be a part of this. That was a factor for me [to extend]. This is a great club; we have a great coach, a great team – and we’re playing some impressive football.”
Kimmich himself took an understandably substantive amount of time before making the final decision to stay. The decision being in favor of Bayern speaks volumes of the vision and commitment of the club. The ball is now in Leroy Sané’s court as his performances in the last couple of seasons have not earned him top priority in the extensions.
