Sevilla 0-2 Real Madrid: Highlights, man of the match, stats as Kylian Mbappe shines against nine-man Los Nervionenses

7 Min Read

Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham scored the goals as Real Madrid recorded a 2-0 victory over nine-man Sevilla in Sunday evening’s La Liga contest at Estadio Ramon.

Sevilla had Loic Bade sent off in the 12th minute of the clash for a last-man challenge on Mbappe, before Isaac Romero, less than a minute after his introduction, was given a red card for a rash tackle on Aurelien Tchouameni.

Real Madrid ultimately made their two-man advantage count, with Mbappe finding the back of the net from distance before Bellingham struck from close range in the final stages to secure a two-goal success.

Los Blancos have moved onto 81 points in the La Liga table, four points behind the champions Barcelona, who suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat to an impressive Villarreal outfit.

Sevilla, meanwhile, sit down in 16th spot, and while a disastrous campaign will not end in relegation, they are on course for their worst league finish since dropping out of the top flight back in 2000.

Jesus Vallejo and Jacobo Ramon were Real Madrid’s starting centre-backs at Estadio Ramon, showing the extent of the team’s defensive problems, but this was never going to be a big test for Los Blancos from the moment that Bade was sent off early on.

Sevilla would still have fancied their chances of getting something out of the match at the half-time break, but their second red card shortly after the restart handed the match to last season’s champions.

Mbappe has now scored 41 times for Real Madrid this season, which is remarkable considering some of the criticism that has come his way, with the Frenchman having an excellent debut campaign.

Bellingham also scored a much-needed goal in the latter stages, registering for just the second time in La Liga since the middle of January, and he will be looking to get back to his best next season.

There will be a lot of changes at Los Blancos over the summer, namely in the dug-out, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti set to lead the team for the final time against Real Sociedad next weekend.

This has been a terrific season for Mbappe, 41 goals and counting, and he was Real Madrid’s best player by a mile on Sunday.

The France international completed four successful dribbles and had seven shots at Estadio Ramon, while his use of the ball was excellent, finishing with a pass success rate of 90%.

It was no surprise that the attacker played a vital role in Real Madrid claiming all three points.
