On Sunday, Ajax welcome FC Twente to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, hoping the football gods will grant them one final favour on the decisive final day of the 2024-25 Eredivisie season.

With the title race now out of their hands, all Ajax can do is focus on winning this match against the Tukkers and hope that PSV Eindhoven slip up in Rotterdam against Sparta.

We say: Ajax 2-1 FC Twente

While the mood around the Ajax camp is likely to be sombre this week, they still need to secure a result here in the hope that Sparta can come through with a much-needed favour. Though it may ultimately be in vain in terms of the title race, we feel the hosts will manage to end the season on a winning note.

Already bound for the European playoffs, AZ Alkmaar welcome relegated Almere City to AFAS Stadion on Sunday afternoon, aiming to round off their Eredivisie campaign with a fourth consecutive victory.

The hosts sit fifth on the table with 56 points from 16 wins, eight draws and nine defeats, while the Black Sheep prop up the standings with just 21 points to their name.

We say: AZ Alkmaar 3-0 Almere City

AZ are overwhelming favourites going into this contest, and given their late resurgence and Almere’s defensive frailties — having conceded the second most goals in the division with 61 — it would be no surprise to see a commanding win for the home side.

With the race for the final two European playoff spots reaching boiling point, Fortuna Sittard welcome FC Utrecht to Limburg on Sunday, knowing that a win in their final encounter of the 2024-25 Eredivisie campaign guarantees them a place in the top nine.

The hosts sit 10th with 40 points, trailing eighth-placed NEC on goal difference but are behind Heerenveen only due to fewer strikes, while the visitors are already assured of fourth place.

We say: Fortuna Sittard 2-2 FC Utrecht

The hosts are in decent nick on home turf, having won their last two at the Fortuna Sittard Stadion, but with Utrecht proving a tough nut to crack on the road, this clash has all the makings of a nail-biter and could even break new ground by delivering the venue’s first league draw of the 2024-25 campaign.

Aiming to seal eighth spot in the Eredivisie table on the final day of the season, NEC will visit Heracles on Sunday.

The visitors lead ninth and 10th spots on goal difference thanks to consecutive wins, while their visitors are six spots and only two points behind.

We say: Heracles 1-3 NEC

Despite the hosts still being within touching distance of their visitors with a chance to leapfrog them on the final day, we back NEC to seal a top-eight spot with an away win on Sunday on the back of consecutive 3-0 triumphs.

NAC Breda and Willem II will draw the curtain on their respective 2024-25 Eredivisie campaigns with a meeting at the Rat Verlegh Stadion on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams are on a dry patch heading into this one, but with little to play for this weekend, an entertaining affair could be on the cards with neither party holding back.

We say: NAC Breda 2-1 Willem II

Breda and Willem II have been abysmal defensively, so we can see both of them getting on the score sheet.

That said, we are backing the home side to narrowly pip their visitors to all three points when all is said and done.

Having potentially decided the 2024-25 Eredivisie title race, Groningen draw the curtain on their league campaign with a visit to the MAC³PARK Stadion on Sunday.

PEC Zwolle, who are unbeaten in each of their most recent three outings, will head into the weekend’s finale looking to sneak into the top half of the table and secure a spot in the Conference League playoff places.

We say: PEC Zwolle 2-1 Groningen

PEC Zwolle and Groningen find themselves within three points of the Europa League qualifying places and we expect both sides to take the game to each other in search of maximum points. The Trots van het Noorden have struggled to impose themselves on the road this season and we predict Jansen’s side will make the most of their home advantage.

All but condemned to automatic relegation from the Eredivisie, RKC Waalwijk will host Go Ahead Eagles on the final day of the season on Sunday.

The hosts trail 16th-placed Willem II by three points with an inferior goal difference, while their visitors are likely unable to catch sixth-placed Twente.

We say: RKC Waalwijk 1-2 Go Ahead Eagles

With the hosts having limped towards the end of the season with nothing left to play for and the visitors vying to end a strong campaign successfully, we back Go Ahead Eagles to take all three points on the final day.

Feyenoord will bring the curtain down on what has been a captivating 2024-25 Eredivisie season with a trip to the Abe Lenstra Stadion to face Heerenveen on Sunday afternoon.

While the outcome of this match will not affect Feyenoord’s final league position, there is still plenty at stake for the hosts, who are chasing European qualification.

We say: Heerenveen 2-2 Feyenoord

Feyenoord have been absolutely flying under Robin van Persie, but with their league position and a Champions League qualifier spot already secured, it will be interesting to see how they approach the final game of the season.

For Heerenveen, this is the most important match of the season, but it is against one of the most in-form teams in the league. Still, the hosts have been excellent at home this term, and we feel they will be able to get at least a share of the spoils.

PSV Eindhoven will be looking to complete a stunning comeback to defend their Eredivisie title this weekend when they travel to Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel to face Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday.

Heading into the final weekend of the season, PSV hold a one-point lead over Ajax at the summit of the standings, and a victory this weekend will earn them their 25th domestic league title.

We say: Sparta Rotterdam 1-3 PSV Eindhoven

While Sparta have ended the season on an upward trajectory, PSV have been a team on a mission over the last month, and we feel they will put in a commanding effort to secure a win and the title this weekend.
