Everton will play at Goodison Park for the final time when they welcome Southampton to L4 in what is set to be an emotional afternoon on Merseyside this Sunday in the Premier League.

While it will be a day that no Everton fan would have wished for, leaving their sacred home after 133 years, they will be keen to make it a special occasion, and one that will ensure that Goodison remains part of the club’s identity forever more.

We say: Everton 1-0 Southampton

Every Everton fan will say it will be typical if they lose their final fixture at Goodison Park, but even though they have fallen to defeat in both encounters with the Saints this season, the players they have available are capable of winning them the game, and they should be well motivated to do so.

Southampton had a misfiring Man City attack to thank for them not suffering a heavy defeat last weekend, and even though the all-time lowest points tally has now been avoided, it would be a surprise to see the visitors take more points here.

On the back of an emotionally-charged week, Nottingham Forest endeavour to keep their diminishing hopes of Champions League football alive in Sunday’s Premier League showdown with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The Tricky Trees’ 2-2 draw with Leicester City last weekend at least ensured they would be present on the continent next term, while the Irons’ bottom-half battle with Manchester United ended in a memorable 2-0 triumph.

We say: West Ham United 0-1 Nottingham Forest

A scarcely believable sentence just a few years ago, Nottingham Forest should prove a much tougher test than Man United were for West Ham, especially with Santo’s men holding fire in their bellies after last weekend’s drama.

Therefore, a Tricky Trees side with plenty more to play for can strike first, shut up shop and secure a 10th Premier League away win of the season to remain in contention for a top-five finish.

Fighting to earn a spot in the Conference League next season, Brentford and Fulham clash at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees managed a 1-0 success at the base of already-relegated Ipswich Town last time out, whilst the Cottagers’ poor form continued at home versus a resurgent Everton.

We say: Brentford 2-1 Fulham

On the verge of qualifying for Europe, Brentford should be confident of putting an out-of-form Fulham to the sword at the Gtech on Sunday afternoon.

The Cottagers are battling on with a host of injuries and are likely to wave goodbye to their continental dreams at the base of their West London neighbours.

Fighting for the status of the best relegated side, Leicester City and Ipswich Town lock horns at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Foxes secured a respectable share of the points at Nottingham Forest last time out, whilst the Tractor Boys were defeated at home by Brentford.

We say: Leicester City 2-0 Ipswich Town

With Vardy stepping out onto the pitch for the final time as a Leicester player, there should be a special atmosphere at the King Power Stadium this weekend.

The veteran is unlikely to bow out quietly, meaning that a 200th Foxes goal and three points are on the agenda for the 38-year-old at the expense of Ipswich.

Silver battles bronze in an intriguing Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon, as second-placed Arsenal welcome third-placed Newcastle United to their Emirates home.

Either side would assure themselves of a place in the 2025-26 Champions League with all three points in North London, where Eddie Howe aims to prolong his hoodoo over the Gunners.

We say: Arsenal 1-1 Newcastle United

Much will depend on whether Arsenal’s influential injury doubts are able to contribute to Sunday’s game, but regardless, Arteta’s out-of-sorts men cannot be considered favourites, even on their own patch.

However, as Newcastle are also lamenting defensive absentees and boast an underwhelming record on the road, a score stalemate is the only outcome we can envisage, as the Gunners cling onto second spot for now.
