Sané’s future remains open, despite the apparent deadline having expired.
Leroy Sané’s contract saga at Bayern Munich may not be over. After working hard to earn a new contract offer at the club and nearing an agreement with the club, the former Schalke 04 player negated all the negotiations by leaving his previous agency. This move reportedly irritated Bayern to the extent that they gave him a deadline to accept a contract, which expired on Friday.
Nevertheless, despite these reports, Bayern officials do not make it sound as if the story has been finalized yet. Bayern president Herbert Hainer offered his opinion after the final match of the season against TSG Hoffenheim: “My understanding is that it’s not over yet. I’m sure I’ll have the opportunity to talk to him today,” Hainer revealed, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We wanted to keep him and made him a reasonable offer. If he accepts it, we’d be happy. If he doesn’t, then it’s his decision.”
Honorary president Uli Hoeneß also spoke about the situation, coming down hard on the assumption of the press that Sané is already set to leave:
“Has he already said no? Why do you always speculate like this,” Hoeness said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He didn’t tell us he was leaving. You all have to learn that we speak about decisions after they’ve been made. Nobody told us he’s leaving. If he leaves, we’ll say something about it.”
Seems like it is not over yet.
