Arsenal are set to smash their own wage barrier by handing out hefty new contracts to Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
The aim is to show that the club can keep hold of their best talent, and end their long wait for silverware under Mikel Arteta.
Saka is set to become the club’s highest earner, with his new deal worth in excess of ₤300,000. The club know that he is the poster boy for the Arteta project, revered by the fans, and any prospect of him running down his contract like Trent Alexander-Arnold, would be anathema to them.
Meanwhile, Saliba, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid in recent weeks is set to get a substantial bump in his own wages to end all talk of a move to the Spanish giants.
The club’s current top earner is Kai Havertz, who is reported to earn ₤280,000 a week at present.
