‘I have the feeling’: Director thinks £55m Arsenal target is actually going to sign a new contract

One player who Arsenal have held talks with is set to sign a new contract with his club, according to one of their directors.

Arsenal are set for a busy summer transfer window with Andrea Berta the new man in charge of bringing in fresh faces for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arteta claims his ideas are aligned with Berta as the pair look to make the final steps in building a squad which can get the Gunners over the line in their bid to win titles.

Berta has been tasked to sign forwards for Arsenal, with a striker and left winger the two top priorities for the North London club. However, one of their targets who has already discussed a move is now set to sign a new deal with his current club.

Leroy Sane wants to sign new Bayern Munich contract

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl has revealed that Leroy Sane is open to signing a new contract with the German champions.

Eberl claims that the winger is set for talks with the German club about signing a new deal with the club keen to get him tied down.

Eberl told Sky Germany: “We will sit down calmly after the celebrations. Then we’ll see if there’s a way forward. We would like to make it happen. I have the feeling that Leroy would too. Let’s see.”

Arsenal have been linked with Sane whose future in Germany was unclear and Mikel Arteta is open to the idea of being reunited with the former Man City player.

TBR Football revealed last month that Arsenal had held talks with Sane about a move and Tottenham Hotspur were also in contact with the winger.

Leroy Sane’s underrated season at Bayern Munich

Sane, who Bayern signed for £55m, managed to have an impressive campaign for Bayern as they returned to being champions of Germany.

Competition Apps Goals Assists
Bundesliga 28 11 5
Champions League 13 1 0
DFB Cup 2 1 0
Total 43 13 5

The winger netted a total of 13 goals and five assists in 43 appearances for the German champions and that is why they are so keen to tie him down to a new deal.

Sane’s experience would have made him a good option for the Gunners despite perhaps not fitting the box for the exciting young wingers which the club are eyeing.
