Manchester City’s rebuild under Pep Guardiola isn’t showing any signs of slowing down with the latest player who is being linked with the former European champions.
City are yet to confirm their place in the Champions League next season and have just lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace.
For the first time since Pep Guardiola’s first season in the Premier League, City will end the campaign empty handed, but with an ambition to come back next year even stronger.
Now, Micah Richards has just revealed that he is hearing of strong interest from Manchester City in a Premier League captain who has really ‘blossomed’ this season.
Micah Richards has heard Man City want Morgan Gibbs-White
Micah Richards has revealed that he is hearing strong whispers that Man City want to sign Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.
Gary Lineker told The Rest Is Football: “Morgan Gibbs-White, I think he’s blossoming into a really, really fine footballer. Heavy rumours about Man City, Micah,” to which Richards replied: “I heard that as well, yeah.”
Lineker then added: “I don’t know whether it’s true, but you know,” and Richards again replied by stating: “No, I’ve heard…”
The midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant breakout campaign and is now wanted by several major Premier League clubs. Liverpool are also linked with Gibbs-White, with the new Premier League champions on the hunt for a new number ten.
Forest have set a £100m asking price on Gibbs-White which could make a deal for the 25-year-old rather complicated.
Should Man City spend £100m on Morgan Gibbs-White or Florian Wirtz?
Man City are also chasing Florian Wirtz, however, they face strong competition from Bayern Munich who also want the German attacker.
Player | Apps | Goals | Assists |
Florian Wirtz | 45 | 16 | 15 |
Morgan Gibbs-White | 37 | 7 | 11 |
The 22-year-old has once again been brilliant for Bayer Leverkusen this term, having netted 16 goals and produced 15 assists in 45 appearances.
Should Guardiola’s team sense any chance of landing the German international, they need to give it everything to sign one of Europe’s hottest properties.
