Olise was named Bundesliga rookie of the season for good reason.

In what should have come in no real surprise, Michael Olise was officially named Bundesliga rookie of the season after a sensational first season at Bayern Munich after joining from Crystal Palace last summer. In his maiden season with the German Rekordmeister, the French winger tallied an impressive 17 goals and 21 assists from a total of 50 appearances across all competitions, finishing the season as the Bundesliga’s top assister, with 15 of his 21 having come in the league.

A Bundesliga winner’s medal and the league’s rookie of the year is certainly no more than Oise deserved after a scintillating season, and one could argue that he personally deserved to go further in both the Champions League and DFB-Pokal. Nonetheless, there’s a lot to look forward to for Bayern fans after Olise’s first season with the club, and his teammates have taken notice of his genuine commitment to his craft.

Speaking on his French teammate, Joshua Kimmich could not hold back his admiration of just how much Olise has hit the ground running at Bayern after joining fresh off of the 2024 summer Olympics with France. “When you see how early Michael always arrives, how he prepares himself before training, how long he works after training and how he works out in the gym, this is simply the reward for all the hard work. We shouldn’t forget that he’s coming off a summer without a vacation, because he played in the Olympics. To then pull off such performances at this level and hardly play a bad game is quite extraordinary,” Kimmich lauded (via @iMiaSanMia).

To add to the hype, Olise was also named the season’s best all-around attacking player by the CIES Football Observatory based in Switzerland. The study went up until the middle of March and the calculations were based on take-on’s, chance creation, and finishing. When the study was published, Olise boasted a higher rating than Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior. The study also only included domestic league data and not data from European competition, but it’s still quite a feat for Olise to be up there with the world’s best in his first season at a new club.

Bayern Munich’s season is over, but we have plenty to talk about. Let’s discuss how we feel about the season and why fan expectations will be higher in 2025/26. We’ll also hit on Harry Kane’s statements, which seem to indicate that he could extend his contract, while also giving a breakdown of Bayern Munich’s big contract/transfer situations. Finally, we touch on Uli Hoeneß proving he has not lost a step with the media as he provided some commentary on the Florian Wirtz transfer saga.
