Make or break end to the season for Chelsea feels like a crossroads moment – opinion

At the very least, the final weekend of the Premier League 2024/25 campaign is going to be super exciting.

The final games are now hugely anticipated and the fact that it is all so close up there now for the last game on Sunday, has really got my interest and I am well and truly invested in it. As football fans, what more could we ask for from the final game?

It makes a difference to recent seasons where we often now have nothing left to play for at this stage of the season and we are just seeing the games out.

The end of this season, we have a Champions League spot to play for as well as a very good chance of winning a trophy. For that, I am thankful. How it ends up is anyone’s guess, but I am at least thankful that we have a very entertaining end to the season and I am very excited for it.

I am expecting intense pressure, nerves, excitement, happiness, sadness, frustration, and everything else in between!

This season has been truly crazy, I don’t remember another season like this recently. The fact that Chelsea could either finish fourth or seventh with one game remaining is just wild. It really does go to show how open this Premier League season has been and how inconsistent all of the teams have been away from Liverpool. Even Arsenal tried to fumble it late on.

Luckily, top five gets you into the Champions League this season, and Chelsea quite simply must get into it for so many reasons whether financially, for decent sponsorship, to keep current players happy, or to sign top summer targets. Believe me, it is SUPER important and the club need it.

Many different things can happen, but our fate is in our own hands. If we win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, we get Champions League football, well, unless a miracle happens and Aston Villa beat Manchester United by like 10 goals!

This is the state of play going into the final games. Manchester City have their game in hand on Tuesday night home to Bournemouth.

If Chelsea fail to beat Forest, they can only hope that results swing in their favour.

Newcastle would have to lose by at least three or by more than the Blues, United would have to beat Villa, while Fulham and Bournemouth defeat City. So Chelsea basically must beat Forest to avoid this unlikely scenario.

So, let’s just assume that City win one of their two games left and Villa beat United.

If Chelsea beat Forest we get UCL, a draw would see us in the Europa League, and a defeat would see us 7th and back in the Conference League.

Fine margins, huge games, and every other game around us is equally as important, starting this Tuesday night with City vs Bournemouth.

Strap in everyone, it’s going to be a dramatic end to the domestic season this week! I’m actually buzzing for it! It’s like a bunch of huge finals being played in Sunday, like the Champions League playoffs!

Forest is not an easy place to go and get a win at, a draw is much more feasible. I don’t see a defeat there, I do see a draw as being possible. But in all honesty, I think I feel a win coming on….. Forest are good defensively but they have not been great at all lately. even their win against West Ham they almost threw away and were gifted the first goal. I think we beat them 2-0…… I hope this doesn’t come back and smack me in the face, maybe it does, but I do have a good feeling for this one.
