Arsenal made an impressive run in the Champions League as well but ended up getting knocked out by PSG in the semi-finals.

Amid the disappointment, there have been a few positives to take, one of them being the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly.

However, his role at the club next season could now be impacted by Thomas Partey’s future at Arsenal.

Arsenal could play Myles Lewis-Skelly in new position next season

Myles Lewis-Skelly has surprised everyone with his exceptional talent this season. He was asked to slot in the left-back role due to the lack of options and has done exceptionally well.

However, Lewis-Skelly’s preferred position is not left-back as he revealed in an interview recently. During an episode of Pavement to Pitch, the Englishman stated: “Initially, I’ll be honest, I wanted to play midfield. I believe I could have played midfield, but obviously, God has other plans. Left-back is what I’m doing now, and just anywhere I can help.”

But he may now be given the chance to play in the midfield role that he excelled in at the academy.

According to Telegraph Sport, if Partey leaves the club at the end of the season, the club could enter the market for another central midfielder, with Arsenal having already signed Martin Zubimendi.

Alternatively, the report claims that they could also shift Lewis-Skelly to the midfield, a role he is well acquainted with.

Partey’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain, with his contract coming to an end at the end of the season. It is reported that Partey wants to extend his contract with Arsenal, but whether they can reach an agreement over a new deal remains to be seen.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s emergence at Arsenal

Lewis-Skelly joined Arsenal at the age of eight and steadily rose through the academy ranks, earning a reputation as a composed and technically gifted midfielder.

He garnered widespread praise for his standout performances in the 2022/23 FA Youth Cup, which catapulted him into the spotlight and paved the way for his first-team breakthrough.

His performances this season in the first team have earned him a lot of praise, with Gael Clichy naming Lewis-Skelly Arsenal’s best player.

Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have also backed him for the Young Player of the Year award.
