West Ham have not had the best of seasons, with the club currently sitting 15th in the table with 40 points.
They suffered yet another defeat on Sunday, losing 2-1 to Nottingham Forest.
While fans have not been happy with the current state, it is reported that West Ham intends to back Graham Potter this summer in what is expected to be a big summer transfer window.
West Ham are expected to sell several players to raise funds for new signings.
In terms of new arrivals, the club plans to bring in at least six new players, and among those linked with a move is Lazio star Valentin Castellanos.
West Ham considering making move for Valentin Castellanos
According to the report from CaughtOffside, West Ham are among the Premier League clubs interested in signing Castellanos.
However, they face stiff competition with Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Everton all mentioned in the report as clubs keen on signing the Argentine.
West Ham were linked with Castellanos before as well but the deal did not materialise then.
As per the report, the Hammers are now close to making an offer for the 26-year-old, who will cost in the region of £25-30m.
And while there is interest from other clubs as well, it remains to be seen if they step up their pursuit as well.
Valentin Castellanos seen as replacement for Niclas Fullkrug
The report claims that West Ham are looking at signing Castellanos as a replacement for Niclas Fullkrug.
The club signed Fullkrug last summer from Borussia Dortmund for £27m and his signing was met with a lot of optimism given his impressive numbers in Germany.
However, he has not had the best of starts to life in England, with the German international’s debut season with West Ham marred with injuries.
He has missed 20 games through injuries so far, making only 19 appearances all season, and scoring just three goals.
Fullkrug himself is disappointed at West Ham, admitting he has had a “really bad” start at his new club.
With the club reportedly looking to replace him already, signing Castellanos, who scored four goals vs Real Madrid, looks to be a great option.
This season, he has scored 14 goals and assisted another eight for Lazio across all competitions.
