Both the Magpies and the Eagles won silverware this term, with Newcastle ending a 70-year wait for a trophy by lifting the League Cup after beating Liverpool in March.

In regards to Crystal Palace, the south Londoners actually won their first ever major trophy by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, setting up an exciting summer – Steve Parish has already said a target wants to join after seeing history occur at Wembley.

Marc Guehi will also once again be in the spotlight after coming close to joining Newcastle last summer, with an update on the Crystal Palace No.6 now emerging in the wake of the FA Cup win.

Marc Guehi still expected to leave Crystal Palace

Despite having an FA Community Shield clash against Liverpool and UEFA Europa League football to look forward to next season, the England international is still expected to leave Selhurst Park this summer – according to The Standard.

Guehi only has 12 months left on his contract, with the report stating that there is ‘no prospect’ of the central defender signing a new deal.

The Standard add that Newcastle remain keen on signing the 24-year-old.

Of course, Crystal Palace could still refuse to sell Guehi this summer, but the south Londoners would then be facing the reality of losing a valuable asset on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.

The Standard also mention that Parish and Oliver Glasner want to sign two new central defenders this summer, so Crystal Palace are seemingly preparing to lose the man born in Abidjan.

TBR Football understand Crystal Palace are keen to sign Maxime Esteve from Burnley, and even made an attempt to recruit the Frenchman during the winter transfer window after Tottenham surprisingly bid for Guehi.

Should a new signing fail to arrive in this department, Chadi Riad will have recovered from injury in time for next season, and could simply step into the back three under Glasner.
