It has been a rough period for Bayer Leverkusen.
After a dominant 2023/24 season, Die Werkself had a good 2024/25 campaign, but had nowhere near the same level of success or excitement.
As tends to happen in these kinds of situations, a mass exodus could be underway.
Head coach Xabi Alonso is headed to Real Madrid and Florian Wirtz is being ogled by Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Liverpool FC, but several other players could be on their way out the door. Let’s take a look…
Bayern waiting on Tah
Bayern Munich is hoping to get an acceptance from center-back Jonathan Tah “as soon as possible” per Fabrizio Romano:
Bayern hope to have Jonathan Tah’s green light as soon as possible after they sent contract proposal to the defender.
More contacts expected to take place soon as Barcelona remain interested but nothing was done/sealed with Spanish side.
LFC getting close with Frimpong
It seems like every day that we get a “Liverpool is getting closer to a deal with Jeremie Frimpong” — and today is no different per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg:
✍️ A decisive day for Jeremie #Frimpong, who is expected to become a new player for FC Liverpool today!
The medical is set to be completed today, as previously reported. The contract signing, valid until 2030, is to follow.
Once again confirmed: Frimpong was a desired signing for the right flank by Arne Slot. Quality, price, age, and versatility — #LFC see the Frimpong package as a unique opportunity on the market.
Schick did not commit to Leverkusen future
After Bayer Leverkusen’s season-ending draw against Mainz 05, striker Patrik Schick touched on the rumors linking him to an exit.
“Now is not the right time to talk about the future. But I have to say, it will be an interesting summer in Leverkusen,” Schick told Sky Sport (as captured by Sport1 via @iMiaSanMia).
Schick has been linked to Bayern Munich, but it seems far-fetched to think that he would be eager to slot in as Harry Kane’s backup. Regardless, after a 2024/25 season where he racked up 27 goals and one assist in 45 games across all competitions, there will be no shortage of suitors for the big Czech.
Bayern Munich’s season is over, but we have plenty to talk about. Let’s discuss how we feel about the season and why fan expectations will be higher in 2025/26. We’ll also hit on Harry Kane’s statements, which seem to indicate that he could extend his contract, while also giving a breakdown of Bayern Munich’s big contract/transfer situations. Finally, we touch on Uli Hoeneß proving he has not lost a step with the media as he provided some commentary on the Florian Wirtz transfer saga. You can get the podcast on Patreon, Spotify, or below:
