The summer transfer window is already beginning to heat up, and several Premier League clubs are urgently adjusting their strategies. The need for goals does not wait, and some clubs have already identified names that can offer immediate solutions. In that group are West Ham United, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.

They all have one thing in common: the desire to add a reliable striker who is hungry to prove his worth. It’s not just about replacing what’s missing, but reinforcing what hasn’t worked. The search has reached the south of the American continent, where a 26-year-old striker has convinced more than one scout with his solid performance in Serie A.

West Ham United Want To Sign Valentin Castellanos

As reported by CaughtOffside, West Ham United have decided to focus their main interest on Valentin Castellanos. The Argentine, who has had an outstanding campaign in Italy, is on the Londoners’ radar as a possible replacement for Niclas Füllkrug, who has failed to stay fit due to persistent injuries.

Graham Potter wants to secure a key player in attack, and the club would be willing to invest heavily to bring in the former MLS player. It is not the first time the Hammers have been interested in him, but this time the interest has a clear shape and direction.

If West Ham United can close this deal, they can find more than just a striker. Castellanos offers mobility, good positioning and an agile reading of the game. He does not have overwhelming physical power, but he knows how to get off the mark, and that allows him to generate constant danger in the opposition’s box.

The Premier League requires quick adaptation, and although he has not yet played in England, his time in different leagues gives him a useful base of experience. From New York to Girona and now Italy, he has shown steady progress, albeit without huge numbers. His desire to prove himself in the Premier League seems genuine, and that could work in the club’s favour if a concrete offer comes in.

Will He Be A Good Signing For The Hammers?

But is he what West Ham really need? If Potter wants a technical striker who does not rely solely on physicality and can get involved in more associative play, Castellanos could fit the bill. However, the question is whether he can sustain the physical and mental pace of the English league for a full season. It is also worth considering that the Lazio player’s arrival could hinder the development of other young attackers within the squad, something Potter often values. It’s not a safe bet, but it’s a logical one if you look at the type of player the manager tends to prefer.

From another angle, if clubs like Everton or Wolves are able to move more swiftly in negotiations, West Ham could be left watching from the sidelines. Competition for Castellanos will not be easy, especially if any of those teams offer immediate first-team football. While the Hammers’ interest looks serious, the outcome will depend on when they decide to move. If they wait too long, the opportunity could slip away. On the other hand, if they act decisively and convince the player with a clear project, they could add a striker who, without great lights, can be a functional solution.
