Liverpool are working quickly to improve their full-back department.
The Reds are close to signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen to bolster the right flank as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to depart for Real Madrid. The Netherlands international will cost £29.5m – the value of his release clause.
Now, Richard Hughes – Director of Football at Anfield – is close to improving the left flank as well.
Liverpool are nearing a £40m deal for Milos Kerkez as the Reds aim to replace Andy Robertson, and the Bournemouth No.3 has already been in touch with Dominik Szoboszlai.
What Milos Kerkez sent to Dominik Szoboszlai
Back in January, the Hungary international told the Liverpool No.8 that he feels motivated by him, after the Reds defeated Ipswich Town 4-1 at Anfield.
Kerkez wrote to Szoboszlai on Instagram, sending a heart emoji and saying: “Motivated (by) you my brother.”
Now, the left-back is close to being able to work alongside his motivation on a daily basis at the AXA Training Centre, having already shared a pitch with him 23 times for Hungary.
What Jamie Carragher thinks of Milos Kerkez as Liverpool close in
Jamie Carragher has already spoken about Kerkez, saying back in December that he believes Liverpool will look to sign the 21-year-old, a claim which is now close to becoming reality.

The man from Bootle said live on Sky Sports: “Yeah (he thinks Liverpool will bid). I think left-back is a position that Liverpool should look to strengthen in January. Andy Robertson needs help, he’s a Liverpool legend, he’s won the lot, but he needs a bit of help.
“I think that is the one area Liverpool should look to address in January. Richard Hughes must know that player well and likes him. It might be one to keep an eye on. Liverpool didn’t do much business in the summer, but that’s an area they have to rectify in January rather than waiting until next summer.”
Hughes – who was Director of Football at Bournemouth – did not make the move in January as Carragher hoped, but the deal is now close to materialising for Liverpool.
