Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has given an insight into their dressing room mood ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

After what has been a well below-par Premier League campaign, Ruben Amorim’s side still have the chance to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. A win over an equally-underwhelming Tottenham outfit would see United back amongst Europe’s elite in 2025/26.

The Red Devils will be without long-term absentee Lisandro Martinez whilst defenders Matthijs De Ligt and Leny Yoro will face late fitness tests. But Amorim may be helped by the surprise return of Joshua Zirkzee, who could be back in the matchday squad.

After an ankle ligament injury sustained in February, there were fears that Diallo’s season could have been over.

But this month, he has returned to provide a timely boost for his side ahead of the final.

“Everyone in the team [is] already focused, good vibes. We just have to go into that game with good vibes, good energy and try to do the best possible to make things happen”, Diallo told CBS Sports.

“Winning trophies is always a good feeling. I can’t wait to play the final”, he continued.

Diallo has recently reflected on his time under Erik Ten Hag’s management, saying how the Dutchman helped him to improve as a player.

Now, the Ivorian will be hoping to shine on one of Europe’s biggest stages, with his sights set on becoming ‘one of the best in the world‘. Can he be the difference maker against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham?

Man United’s record in last three major cup finals is a reason for optimism

Despite a lack of Premier League success since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have still appeared somewhat regularly in major cup finals.

Their last three provided grounds for positivity ahead of Wednesday’s showdown with Spurs.

These bitter rivals met once again under the Wembley arch, with pressure on Erik Ten Hag to deliver silverware for the red side of Manchester. And that he did – goals from captain Bruno Fernandes and homegrown academy product Kobbie Mainoo were enough to secure a third FA Cup for Pep Guardiola.

Mainoo’s goal and man of the match performance stole the headlines.

Whilst losing an FA Cup final to your closest rivals is never a positive, some solace can be taken from the fact that this Manchester City side would go on to win the treble just a week later. A spirited United performance was undone by an Ilkay Gundogan brace, with the first coming after just 13 seconds.

United’s first major trophy since 2017 and Erik Ten Hag’s first as the Red Devils’ boss.

In a rich vein of form, Marcus Rashford was on the scoresheet alongside Casemiro to kill Newcastle hopes of ending their 67-year domestic trophy drought.

With two successes out of United’s previous three attempts in major cup finals, it is all set up for a fantastic night in Bilbao. Both teams will be desperate for a trophy that could kickstart a long-term change in fortunes.
