Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur-linked midfielder Angel Gomes has confirmed that he will be leaving Lille when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has supposedly found himself on the radar of a number of top clubs thanks to his displays in France, most notably providing 10 assists across all competitions in the 2023-24 season.
Injuries have restricted Gomes to just 20 appearances this term, from which he has provided two goals and one assist, but the England international remains a hot commodity and has apparently caught the eye of Barcelona.
Tottenham Hotspur were also reported to have entered talks for the ex-Manchester United protege a couple of months ago, while West Ham United have also thrown their hat into the ring for a free transfer.
Gomes has been free to talk to foreign clubs since entering the last six months of his deal in January, and the midfielder has now announced his imminent exit from Les Dogues on social media.

“After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” Gomes wrote on Instagram. “This club has been more than just a team — it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.
“Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my team-mates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.
“I’m proud of what we achieved together and thankful for every moment. To the fans — thank you for your amazing support and for believing in me. I will forever be grateful.
“I always gave everything I had for the badge and for all of you. Lille will always have a special place in my heart.”
Gomes made the move to Lille in 2020 when he was released by Man United, although he missed Les Dogues memorable 2020-21 Ligue 1 title win, having been loaned out to Portuguese side Boavista.
Since making his breakthrough in France, Gomes has come up with 10 goals and 19 assists in 134 matches for the Northern France outfit, and he won four caps for England under Lee Carsley in last year’s UEFA Nations League.

The 24-year-old was limited to just 10 appearances for the Red Devils after coming through their youth ranks, but a marquee return to Old Trafford has inevitably been mooted.
Gomes is thought to have attracted the attention of his former club, and with good reason; he has the potential to thrive as one of Ruben Amorim‘s two number 10s and would not burn another hole in the club’s pocket.
However, the Red Devils are understood to have decided against giving Gomes a second chance at the Theatre of Dreams, thereby boosting Spurs and Barcelona’s prospects of a deal.
Gomes is one of two high-profile Lille players confirmed to be leaving on a free transfer, as striker Jonathan David is also seeking a new club, and a London team is apparently leading the race for the Canada international.
