C’mon. Too many people want this to work for the parties to split. Right?
So what really is the deal with Bayern Munich and Leroy Sané? Will he stay or will he go?
Club officials made statements following the season finale win at Hoffenheim indicating that the door is still open, but a report in Bild following on the heels of that suggested Sané was expected to depart in the summer.
Not if head coach Vincent Kompany has his way, however. It seems the Bayern coach rates Sané highest among the team’s trio of veteran wingers, which also includes Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry.
From a report in Tz, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Vincent Kompany would still like to keep Leroy Sané at the club. The coach appreciates Sané’s availability and the fact he’s less injury prone than the likes of Coman and Gnabry. In addition, Sané’s sprinting numbers, including when tracking back, are very good – Kompany appreciates this quality. There’s also the question of a replacement should Sané go – the package transfer fee and salary for a new winger would cost the club more than a Sané extension [@kessler_philipp, @hannalein3, @mano_bonke]
Does the club hold enough leverage here to stick to its guns, or can Sané find a better offer elsewhere?
