Big things in store for the big man?
Bayern Munich keeper Jonas Urbig is now the proud owner of a feat achieved only twice before in history: he has won both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga titles in the same season.
Thanks to a final Matchday fumble by Hamburger SV, Urbig’s old club, FC Köln, claimed top spot in the second flight with a 4-0 win over Kaiserslautern. Bayern, of course, had already claimed this year’s Meisterschale a couple Matchdays prior.

Urbig, of course, has bigger tasks ahead of him next year. The 21-year-old will need to continue to raise his level to push for sharing playing time with Manuel Neuer, and he will also need to shine when given opportunities in order to justify handing the keys over to him…whenever that might be.
Neuer turns 40 next March, and has missed time in recent seasons due to injury as well. The time for succession may well be coming soon.
