Will Bayern Munich push the deal over the finish line?

According to a report from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Bayern Munich and Jonathan Tah have agreed on personal terms.

With Tah’s status as a free agent, it is now just a matter of “crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s” as they say. Interestingly, Bayern Munich’s rumored proposal includes a three-year deal with an option for a fourth year. In addition, Tah’s salary would be €12 million per the report.

The only hold up at this point is Tah waiting to see if FC Barcelona is going to present its own offer:

Free of any contract, (Tah) has reached agreement on the terms of a contract with Bayern Munich. According to our information, this is a 4-year contract (or 3 years + 1 year option), with an annual salary of around €12m. But, as in the Wirtz case, Bayern still have to wait and see if FC Barcelona will go through with the deal. Hansi Flick wants the 29-year-old defender, who has also reached a verbal agreement with the Blaugrana club. However, the latter’s financial problems are complicating matters, leaving Bayern in the strongest possible position to sign him.

This would represent another major task completed by Max Eberl and his staff — if true. The FC Barcelona part of the story is interesting, but given some of the financial issues that Barca is having, it would not be shocking for the Catalans to have to sell a few players before making any moves this summer.

Adding Tah to Bayern Munich’s roster could certainly have a trickle-down effect on what positions some players will play next season (Hiroki Itō, Josip Stanišić) or if others will remain with the team (Kim Min-jae).

Stay tuned…
