The Spanish midfielder has been linked with three big Premier League sides after joining the Saudi Pro League.

Highly-rated midfielder Gabri Veiga has been linked with a move to three different Premier league clubs despite joining the Saudi Pro League aged 21.

In the summer of 2023, Veiga shocked the football world after he decided to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli after attracting interest from some of the top clubs in Europe.

The Spaniard was widely regarded as one of the most promising young prospects in football, but at the age of 21, felt he couldn’t turn down a reported wage of around €230,000.

But now, Veiga may have the chance to return to the top of European football, as three different Premier League clubs are said to be interested in a move for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Veiga will leave the Saudi Pro League this summer, ahead of his contract expiring in 2026.

Veiga is reportedly adamant that he won’t sign a new deal with Al Ahli, and has therefore attracted interest from Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Of the three, Newcastle are believed to be the closest to submitting an offer for Veiga after they came close to signing him two years ago.

And it would appear that Veiga is keen on making a big move back to Europe, as he has decided to part ways with prominent agency Gestifute, led by super-agent Jorge Mendes, and instead sign with Gol International.

It is believed that the youngster has told his agents to begin negotiations with clubs from across Europe’s elite leagues, with him willing to move to several big clubs.

Should Newcastle falter in their pursuit of Veiga, Wolves are also believed to have a strong chance at securing his signature, having already spoken to his previous agents about a move.

Nottingham Forest will also launch a move for the Spaniard should they feel he is available in the summer, particularly if it becomes clear that Al Ahli will accept a cut-price offer ahead of his expiring contract.

However, the three Premier League sides may also face competition from abroad, with both Atletico Madrid and and Veiga’s previous club Celta Vigo also weighing up making a move.
