A Premier League club have been told to ‘test the water’ with a move for Harry Kane this summer.

The England captain is fresh from winning the first major trophy of his career with Bayern Munich.

Kane once again won the Bundesliga Golden Boot as he fired the German giants to their 34th league title.

The forward now has 82 goals in 91 appearances for the club since signing from Tottenham in 2023.

However, Ally McCoist has urged Kane to make a return to the Premier League this summer.

The talkSPORT co-host believes champions Liverpool should be looking to sign the former Spurs striker.

Arne Slot’s current centre-forwards, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, have scored a combined 16 goals this season.

Meanwhile, Kane has 62 goals in 63 Bundesliga matches for Bayern across the last two campaigns.

Discussing who the Reds should sign this summer, McCoist told Breakfast: “Harry Kane. I’d go and test the water on him, I genuinely would. How many goals would he score at Liverpool?”

The former Rangers star continued: “He’s been incredible at Bayern. His goal-scoring record is fantastic.

“Football fans say you can’t begrudge him that title, you can’t begrudge him that first trophy because of the way he applies himself, because of his goal-scoring and because of the type of guy he is.”

Kane still has two years remaining on his Bayern contract after penning a deal through to 2027 upon his arrival.

The 31-year-old remains the second highest scorer in Premier League history despite moving abroad.

However, he has admitted he has not considered leaving Germany to return to the Premier League.

Asked if he plans to return to break Alan Shearer’s record, he said: “No, I don’t really think about it.”

McCoist believes the chance of making history should motivate him to return.

Asked about Kane’s happiness at Bayern, he added: “I don’t have any doubt about that, but I’ll tell you what would make him happy. Beating Alan Shearer’s record. That would make him happy.

“I’ll tell you the flip side of that coin. I’ll tell you who it wouldn’t make happy. Alan Shearer.”
