Arsenal have been stepping up their efforts to land Viktor Gyokeres and Sporting’s manager has made his feelings clear about the striker leaving.

Andrea Berta is focused on signing Gyokeres as he looks to bring in a new centre forward to Arsenal and finally hand Mikel Arteta the missing piece of their squad.

Sporting are ready to sell Gyokeres for £54.7m and the Gunners are now working hard on a move to bring the Swedish international to North London.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed another superb season at Sporting, having netted 53 goals in 51 matches, helping them to win the Liga Portugal title.

Now, the father of Sporting’s head coach, Rui Borges, has been speaking about how his son feels about losing such a key player.

Rui Borges ready to lose Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal

The father of Rui Borges, Manuel, has revealed that the head coach of the club is ready to lose Viktor Gyokeres with a move to Arsenal getting closer.

Gyokeres says he’s unsure about his future and was visibly emotional during Sporting’s final game of the season after they won the title.

Borges is braced for the possibility of the striker leaving this summer and is ready to find an alternative should he lose his top scorer to Arsenal.

When asked about Gyokeres leaving, Borges’ father said: “He always finds a way. It doesn’t worry him. If it’s not Gyokeres, someone else will come along or he already has someone in mind.”
