As Monterrey gears up for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, excitement is mounting not only because of the tournament itself but due to the unveiling of a special new home kit.

As Monterrey gears up for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, excitement is mounting not only because of the tournament itself but due to the unveiling of a special new home kit and the anticipated return of Sergio Ramos, who is expected to wear it when he steps back onto the pitch. With the club celebrating its 80th anniversary, a sense of history and future pride surrounds Rayados as they prepare to take on the world stage.

Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos missed the final stretch of the 2025 Clausura season due to a right thigh muscle injury suffered during matchday 17 against León. The injury forced him to sit out Monterrey’s two Play-In matches, against Pachuca and Pumas, as well as the quarter-final elimination against Toluca.

While Rayados’ Clausura campaign ended prematurely, Ramos refused to let the setback stall his momentum. Even as the squad was granted a fortnight off ahead of their Club World Cup preparations, Ramos remained a regular fixture at the training facility, working on his fitness and recovery.

He recently posted a photo on Instagram showing another intense session, making his ambitions clear: the Club World Cup is his next battlefield.

The Liga MX side will begin its Club World Cup campaign on June 17, facing Inter Milan, with additional group stage matches against River Plate and Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds. For Ramos, this international competition could mark a high note in his tenure with the club.

Jersey worth the occasion

Coinciding with the Club World Cup buzz, Monterrey and Puma have launched a bold new home jersey specifically for the tournament, doubling as a tribute to the club’s 80th anniversary. As reported by Footy Headlines, the shirt features a navy-blue base with two broad white brushstroke-style stripes, a modern twist on Rayados’ traditional design.

“The Puma Monterrey 2025 Club World Cup home jersey introduces a navy blue base with two broad white ‘painted’ brushstroke-style stripes,” noted Footy Headlines, “creating a daring take on the club’s traditional look.”

We carry the passion of our people, the tradition of our history, and the pride of an entire city. ⛰️💙🤍

The design includes a classic navy polo collar, wide sleeve cuffs, and a subtle Mexican flag detail on the upper back—an elegant nod to national pride. The Monterrey crest is placed high on the left chest, while Puma’s logo mirrors it on the right.

In a particularly nostalgic gesture, Puma also released a special long-sleeve version of the shirt, featuring a minimalist embossed crest, a retro logo on the left side, and the number “80” in gold above the hem, emphasizing the celebratory nature of the release.
