For Kimmich, there are actually some stresses that come along with some extended time off from the football pitch.

The job is done, and the Bundesliga season is over. Bayern Munich clinched the title with two matches to spare and it’s now time for Vincent Kompany and his side to look forward to the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States that kicks off next month. The players will have a holiday break prior to preparations for said beginning, but for some players, there is also international duty that stands in between now and the start of the Club World Cup.

For Bayern’s Germany contingent, they have the matter of the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Portugal at the Allianz Arena on June 4th. The winner of that match will go on to face either France or Spain in the final on June 8th. For the rest of Bayern’s internationals, it will be either international friendlies or World Cup qualifiers that they are taking part in.

For Bayern’s midfield stalwart and energizer bunny Joshua Kimmich, extended periods of time off are not exactly his bread and butter. For the club’s player that clocked the most minutes across the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, his body could certainly use the rest, but he recently revealed that time off brings its own form of stress for the German Rekordmeister’s number 6.

“I actually told my wife that vacation time is the most stressful time for us, because we take the kids out of kindergarten and have to look after them 24 hours a day. So we’ll see if we can get some rest in those 10 days. It’s 10 days where you can mentally switch off a bit. Physically, you can’t completely switch off because we’re back in 10 days. But I’m really looking forward to the two games [Nations League],” he recently explained (via @iMiaSanMia).

This time around, the break’s itinerary is certainly a bit different than for the brief getaway to Ibiza that caused some backlash in the German press, but it’s needed time before Kimmich and Bayern’s internationals head off to play for their nations before coming back for the Club World Cup. All the while, Bayern’s front office and supervisory board will be working diligently around the clock to try to get all of their transfer business done as soon as they can.

Needless to say, it’s going to be a rather busy summer for Bayern, so full advantage needs to be taken of the little rest the comes by. Feet up, exhale, and relax…
