Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, has given an update on the club’s interest in Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.
The 24-year-old will still be licking his wounds after suffering FA Cup final defeat for the second year running, this time at the hands of Crystal Palace.
Injury troubles have prevented Haaland from impacting Man City’s performances this season as much as he would like, with the striker set to record his worst goal return during his time in England.

On the other hand, Laporta has enjoyed a campaign of success with Barcelona and has now commented on whether the club could sign City’s star man.
Joan Laporta speaks on Erling Haaland Barcelona links
When speaking to Catalan broadcaster TV3, the Barcelona president laid down a marker regarding a future deal for Haaland.
“Nothing in life is impossible,” stated Laporta.
“Although we’re not thinking that right now, and he just renewed at City.”
Keeping his cards close to his chest, Laporta didn’t elaborate further on Barcelona’s interest in the forward, pointing to Haaland’s new Manchester City deal.
However, his ominous statement shows there is intent for the Blaugrana to secure Haaland’s services in the future. It isn’t the first time Haaland has been linked with Barcelona, and certainly won’t be the last.
Haaland would run riot in Spain
Haaland’s goalscoring record speaks for itself. Rarely has Europe seen such a clinical, cold-blooded forward that was born for one simple purpose.
To score goals.
Bullying defenders, humiliating goalkeepers, Haaland has shown no mercy during his time in professional football, and is naturally on the wish list of every manager in Europe.

In the past, his bullish playing style may not have fit in with Barcelona’s culture, but times have changed.
Robert Lewandowski has shown that a more traditional style of centre forward can still work well for the club, playing a crucial role in capturing two La Liga titles and one Copa Del Rey.
Therefore, Haaland would be expected to have a similar, if not greater effect in Barcelona, due to his youth.
If, as the Norwegian talisman reaches the prime of his career, a move to Barcelona comes calling, it could make for one of the 21st century’s deadliest combinations.
For now, his attention will turn back to the Premier League, and looking to put the Crystal Palace defeat behind him.
The defeat came as a shock to Pep Guardiola’s side, who were well beaten by Palace. Guardiola admitted he admired the Eagles’ Adam Wharton last month, but probably holds a less favourable opinion of the 21-year-old now.
Haaland and Co. still have to do their bit to ensure City secure Champions League football next season, which still isn’t a guarantee.
