A number of injuries to the striker position is moving Nick Woltemade up in the pecking order.
Nick Woltemade sprung onto the season with VfB Stuttgart this season. The once relatively unknown prospect has suddenly become one of the brightest young strikers in Europe. Woltemade has put in a stellar performance, earning 16 goals and three assists in 32 domestic appearances. Julian Nagelsmann among others, has started to take notice.
It is being reported by several different sources, that Nagelsmann is likely calling up the 23-year-old striker to the UEFA Nations League Finals. With newfound striker Tim Kleindienst out injured, and questions surrounding Denis Undav and Niclas Füllkrug’s match fitness and form, it makes perfect sense to give the young striker his deserved opportunity.

Nick Woltemade has good chances of being called up to the senior national team for the first time for the Nations League Final Four. With Kleindienst sidelined and Undav/Füllkrug unlikely to get a call up, Julian Nagelsmann is considering Woltemade to fill in the gap upfront.
Woltemade, also known as Woltemessi, recently scored a hattrick against Spain for the Germany U-21 squad, so a senior call-up has certainly been on the radar for 2025. With Woltemade’s size and technical ability, he is the perfect archetype for a German number nine. Not to mention, Germany’s current rotating list of strikers is on the older side, and Nagelsmann’s side can benefit from implementing a long-term solution such as Woltemade.
Is Woltemade ready for a senior debut? It appears to be a trial by fire if Woltemade is thrown straight into a tournament final amongst the likes of Spain, Portugal, and France, but Woltemade certainly shows the right signs.
