Tottenham are now eyeing up Pep Guardiola favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer

3 Min Read

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to end their disappointing season with silverware, although a managerial change this summer could occur regardless.

Languishing towards the foot of the table, Tottenham have had a disastrous season that has seen their manager, Ange Postecoglou, under increased pressure.

However, despite a terrible season domestically, they have, bizarrely, had more success in Europe and find themselves in a Europa League final against Manchester United.

Despite the chance of winning Spurs their first trophy since 2008, Postecoglou looks set to lose his job regardless of the result, with one manager in particular being targeted as his replacement.

Thomas Frank added to Tottenham shortlist

Brentford’s Thomas Frank is the second-longest-serving current manager in the Premier League after being with the Bees for seven years, although according to Foot Mercato, he could be on his way out.

They have reported that Frank has been added to Tottenham’s shortlist as a potential replacement for Postecoglou, although he is still under contract until 2027.

The Danish manager has become one of the most respected managers in England after taking Championship Brentford and turning them into a comfortable Premier League outfit, doing so on a rather modest budget.

Ex-Ajax boss Francesco Farioli and Fulham’s Marco Silva have also been rumoured with the job, with Frank the latest addition to the shortlist right before their crucial cup final against United.

Pep Guardiola is a ‘big fan’ of Frank

The only manager who has been at their club longer in the league is Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, with the Spaniard previously being full of praise for the Brentford boss.

Following City’s 2-1 victory over the Bees earlier in the season, Guardiola was in awe of Frank’s style of play, saying: “I’m a big fan of Thomas Frank. I don’t remember a team in my last eight or nine years that played the way they did in the first 30 minutes.

“They deserved the victory, maybe 0-1, maybe 0-2, or maybe 0-3. They were much better.

“I’m a really big fan of Brentford for what they do and have been for many years, and they are very well managed.”

Recognition like this from one of the best managers in football has certainly set Frank up for big things, and it is Tottenham who are looking to bring his style of play to their club and get them back towards the top of the Premier League.
