It remains to be seen if Trent Alexander-Arnold has already played his last game in a Liverpool shirt.

Alexander-Arnold has confirmed that he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and all is set for him to join Real Madrid.

The England international didn’t play a minute in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday evening, a game which actually showcased Conor Bradley’s credentials.

Bradley was brilliant going forwards on the right for Arne Slot and it was his assist which sparked Liverpool into life early on.

Alexander-Arnold remained on the bench as a result, and although he seems likely to play a part against Crystal Palace on Sunday at Anfield, there’s no guarantee that the full-back hasn’t played his last minutes in a Liverpool shirt.

That being said, Jamie Carragher spotted a peculiar moment following Liverpool’s defeat to Brighton whilst speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast.

In the aftermath of the game, Carragher noticed that Alexander-Arnold was simply staring towards Liverpool’s fans with a slightly blank expression before then turning away.

The pundit wasn’t entirely sure what the Englishman was feeling, but questioned whether he was ‘angry’ with fans, presumably in regards to the booing he’s been subjected to.

Carragher said: “It was really interesting. Have you seen the picture from last night?

“So obviously the Liverpool fans, even though they’ve got beat, they’re still having a party.

“It’s like they’re just singing and chanting, obviously won the league, and so the players have gone over at the end and someone’s got a picture, just like a video of Trent.

“He’s just like, you know, he just sort of staring and he just turned away.

“And it’s almost like, you know, it’s like what’s going through his mind, either he’s like, angry with the supporters or he’s got that feeling of like, what have I done here? You know, he’s just, we’ll see, won’t we, in a few years.”

Liverpool closing in on Jeremie Frimpong signing

Of course, a lot of Liverpool fans will already be looking to the future in regards to their right-back spot.

Jeremie Frimpong is close to joining Liverpool and he will be the man tasked with replacing Alexander-Arnold’s creativity.

The Dutchman won’t be able to do so alone, but Liverpool are also pushing to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Both would be significant additions for the Reds and Richard Hughes does deserve a lot of credit for operating so quickly.

Liverpool are worried about Ibrahima Konate’s situation, but otherwise it’s looking like an exemplary start to the summer.
