TBR Football understands that Rayan Cherki has his heart set on a move to the Premier League this summer, and he is set to get his wish as talks over a move have already taken place.
The 21-year-old has long been regarded as one of the most natural talents in European football, but doubts from several major clubs have seen him remain at Lyon.
However, this summer is set to see Rayan Cherki leave Lyon and he can leave for just over £20 million. TBR Football revealed in April that Cherki was very much on the radar of several Premier League clubs who have been hugely impressed with the attitude he had shown this season.
More than half of the Premier League have watched Cherki, who’s been called an ‘incredible talent’, this season and talks have taken place with various major clubs.
Rayan Cherki’s Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and Man United talks
Some of Rayan Cherki’s advisors believe he should be looking at joining a club like Fulham, West Ham or Crystal Palace, who see him as a potential replacement for Eberechi Eze. However, the player himself is understood to be looking to join one of England’s top clubs and there is not a shortage of interest.
With that, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that Cherki’s people have had conversations with Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham and Manchester United in recent weeks, which have confirmed to him that his wish of moving to England is going to be granted this summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have scouted Cherki this season with the Gunners watching him in action against Manchester United. Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham were also present at the match at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
Cherki suggested he’s leaving Lyon with his social media post thanking the club’s supporters. Now, the race is on to land the young, exciting talent.
Rayan Cherki could be the perfect solution to Newcastle’s right winger issue
Newcastle have long been on the hunt for a right winger and Cherki could be the perfect fit for Eddie Howe’s team. The 21-year-old has 18 goal contributions in all competitions when starting on the right side of Lyon’s attack.
Nobody has more assists in Ligue 1 this season than Cherki with 11, and combined with eight goals to his name and it has been hugely impressive. The young Frenchman has also impressed for his nation’s Under-21s team, producing five goal contributions in three matches.
