Liverpool do not often adopt the approach of moving for bonafide superstars in lucrative transfers.
The Reds typically invest modest fees in players who are just on the cusp of reaching world class status, such as the £35m signing of Alexis Mac Allister – who is now thriving – and the £36m move for Ibrahima Konate, now one of the best in Europe.
We seldom see Liverpool splash huge amounts of cash on the finished article – not since the arrivals of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson has that happened – although this could now be about to change after an interesting update on Florian Wirtz.
Florian Wirtz to Liverpool could actually happen
Liverpool are keen to sign the Germany international from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but there appears to be a few major roadblocks, mainly the finances it would require.
Even Manchester City have gone cold on Wirtz – with the BBC claiming that they fear a deal could end up costing around £250m.
Bayern Munich also want Wirtz – a destination that interests him – so Liverpool would need to fend off Vincent Kompany as well.
Despite all of this, Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail believes an agreement could still happen for Liverpool, delivering an exciting line for fans to digest.
Speaking on YouTube, the respected journalist said: “I just have a sneaky feeling with this one, the noise is positive. Not to say a deal will be done, but (there are) no negative noises (suggesting) it definitely won’t.”

Of course, a lot would still need to happen even if Wirtz – who has been called a “superstar” – tells the Reds he wants to join, such as the financial aspect of the deal, although as Steele states, there is certainly hope of an agreement being found.
