Ruben Amorim has already said that qualifying for the Champions League by winning UEFA’s second-tier competition would make his life even harder next season while Ange Postecoglou is expected to be fired even if he brings home a rare piece of silverware for Tottenham. It probably doesn’t reflect that well on the health of the European game that two of the poorest sides in England’s top league have reached the final.

Nonetheless, after a dismal campaign for both teams in which Manchester United has fallen further behind Liverpool, a get-out-of-jail-free card awaits the winner. Amorim and Postecoglou would still have lots of work to do in the summer even if they win, but it feels like a huge chance for the pair to at least take a step in the right direction.

In the UK, the game will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 and Discovery Plus. It will be available to stream via the TNT Sports app for customers who have the channel and also those who don’t. Those who wish to tune in can do so for free as long as they download the app.

In the US, the match is set to be shown on Paramount+, where all the Champions League and Europa League games have been screened this season. The game kicks off at 3pm ET.

Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are all missing for Manchester United. Spurs, meanwhile, will be without Lucas Bergvall, who has joined Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Timo Werner on the sidelines.

“I don’t know,” Amorim admitted in his pre-match press conference when he was asked why he wasn’t under more pressure given Manchester United’s recent results. “I know that, in this kind of club, also in Tottenham, but especially in Manchester United, it’s strange to have some coaches here they lose some games and they are sacked.

“It’s hard to explain. I think people are seeing what I’m trying to do. Sometimes I’m thinking more of the club than myself, so people understand, especially the board. We have lots of possibilities in this context, it’s really hard.

“I don’t know how to explain how the fans like me in this moment. It’s hard to explain. I will try to prove myself to the fans and to the board but I don’t have an explanation for you.

“Again, I think it’s a good thing for me to never worry about that. It’s part of being a coach. The most important thing is to know what you’re doing and I explained everything.

“Again, before, when I explained about the storm and all the problems we have to the board. So I was clear. I won’t change my idea. They know they cannot say one thing that I said to get the job and then I change my mind.

“It was the opposite. I think the board can understand that, the fans can understand that, but we’ll reach a moment when we have to win. No matter what. So I don’t have an explanation for that.”

“It will be very special and it will be obviously a historic moment,” Son Heung-min said. “I’ve been here 10 years and I just want to win the trophy which nobody has done while I’ve been here during those 10 years.

“Tomorrow is going to be a massive day for obviously the club first of all, and for the boys and obviously for me as well.”
