Liverpool are expected to be on the lookout for new strikers in the upcoming transfer window this summer.

Ally McCoist urges Liverpool to move for Harry KaneHow Harry Kane actually feels about a potential Premier League return

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently revealed that Liverpool could make up to five new signings this summer.

“In terms of their back line, Liverpool are looking to bring in a new left-back, a new centre-back, and maybe a right-back,” said Bailey.

“Further up the pitch, the Reds will be looking for a new striker, and then this creative player – maybe a left-winger and an attacking midfielder.”

Now, pundit Ally McCoist has urged Liverpool to make a move for an “incredible” striker he feels could potentially get 30-plus goals per season.

Ally McCoist urges Liverpool to move for Harry Kane

McCoist, speaking on talkSPORT, urged Liverpool to “test the waters” for England captain Harry Kane amid speculation over his future.

Kane has finally won the first major trophy of his career, lifting the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich earlier this month.

However, there is one potential incentive for Kane to return to England, namely the opportunity of becoming the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer.

The £86million man currently has 213 Premier League goals to his name from his time at Spurs, while Alan Shearer has 260 goals in the competition.

“Harry Kane, I tell you right now, go and test the waters with him. I genuinely would,” McCoist said on talkSPORT. “How many goals is he scoring at Liverpool?”

Jeff Stelling replied: “Probably as many as he’s scoring at Bayern.”

McCoist then said: “Yeah, I mean he’s been incredible at Bayern, his goalscoring record is fantastic.”

However, Stelling had a word of warning for Kane’s suitors, saying: “Word is that he’s very happy in Munich and that Munich are very happy with him as well.”

McCoist replied: “I get that, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that, but I tell you what would make him happy, beating Alan Shearer’s record.”

How Harry Kane actually feels about a potential Premier League return

Bailey recently revealed on TBR Football that some in the game believe that there is still a chance Kane could return to the Premier League this summer.

“I am still hearing Harry Kane’s name coming up,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“We are really going to have a real shuffle of the pack this summer when it comes to strikers. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all looking for strikers.

“People close to Kane have been asked the question, but say nothing is going to happen – but I can say there are some in football who keep saying watch out for him this summer.

“I don’t really expect a move, but never say never, this is a crazy market.”
