By all estimations, Arsenal are set to spend big in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side have had a relatively strong season once again, even if they will be criticised for not mounting a stronger challenge to Liverpool for the title.
But looking at where Arsenal fell down, it was a familiar story in north London.
Arteta’s side should have been desperate to sign another centre-forward in January, but decision-makers at the Emirates seemingly decided to wait six-months.
And whilst Arsenal will now invest in a striker, perhaps they could also pick up a free agent this summer on a one-year-deal who could make a huge impact in N5.
Arsenal should consider Kevin De Bruyne move
As crazy as it might have sounded a year ago, Arsenal, like many other elite clubs, have the opportunity to sign Kevin De Bruyne for free once he leaves Manchester City.
Tributes were being paid to De Bruyne on Tuesday night in Manchester — the last home game he’ll play for Pep Guardiola’s side.

And whilst there’s talk of heading to the MLS, De Bruyne is open to staying in the Premier League.
De Bruyne will turn 34-years-old next month but over the last few weeks and months he’s certainly proven that he’s still at the level to decide top games.
Arsenal aren’t necessarily desperate for a forward-thinking midfielder this summer, but adding someone of De Bruyne’s quality, experience and leadership could be invaluable for Arteta.
Right now, there’s something stopping Arsenal quite getting across the line in all competitions, and a one year stay for De Bruyne in north London is perhaps not as crazy as it sounds.
Mikel Arteta has spoken glowingly about Kevin De Bruyne
That being said, Arteta has perhaps already explained why Andrea Berta should be getting in contact with De Bruyne’s representatives.
Speaking about De Bruyne at a press conference in April, Arteta said that he ranked the Belgian among the best in Premier League history.
Arteta admitted: “I rank him up there. He is one of the best players in the Premier League. [I’ve] never seen a player that can deliver that precisely at that high speed.”
Judging by reports, De Bruyne might be willing to join Arsenal despite their competition with Man City.
And perhaps the Belgian could emulate the likes of Frank Lampard or even Robin van Persie in switching to a Premier League rival in the latter years of his career.
