Odds on Kevin De Bruyne’s next move slashed as clear favourite emerges after final Man City home game

A clear favourite has emerged to sign Kevin De Bruyne following Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday (May 20).

De Bruyne, 33, played his final game at the Etihad Stadium as a Manchester City player during his side’s crucial win against Bournemouth.

The Belgian was not offered a new deal by the club, something he admitted that he was “surprised” by and will become a free agent upon the expiration of his contract.

His future remains uncertain, and he even explained how he was still open to playing for an English club when he spoke to reporters following City’s 1-0 FA Cup final defeat against Crystal Palace last Saturday.

“I don’t know [If I would like to stay in the Premier League], it depends on who comes,” said De Bruyne.

“Like I said to my Belgian colleagues, I have a family and I have young kids.

“I have to take a decision that works for all of us, not just me.

“When I was 20 years old and all by myself, I could make a decision, and it would be easy, but now it is a bit more complex.”

He added: “[I will let you know my decision] whenever I am ready to make one.”

When pressed on whether he’d be open to a move to an English club, the 33-year-old replied: “Maybe.”

The likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa have been linked with potential moves for the six-time Premier League winners, but new favourites have now emerged.

According to Oddschecker, any Italian club returns short odds of 1/4, while title-chasing Napoli are second favourites. In third are any MLS team at 5/2, while any Saudi Arabian team are fourth favourites at 8/1.

Then come any Spanish club at 10/1.

Speaking after yesterday’s match, De Bruyne spoke to the City fans via Sky Sports.

“I came here with my wife to stay for a long time, I didn’t expect to be here 10 years,” De Bruyne said.

“We’ve won everything, we made the club bigger, and now they [team-mates] are going to take over. This team will have more success, that’s for sure.

“I know it’s been a bit of a tough year for us but I think this team deserves all the support from you guys. I know they are pushing really hard and this team will be back next year fighting for all the titles.”
