After winning the Premier League title, Liverpool should try to assert their dominance over English football even further by bolstering their squad in the summer window.

From Sir Alex Ferguson to Pep Guardiola, all of the Premier League’s most successful managers have been given the tools to build on title-winning seasons and Arne Slot is worthy of such backing in the summer as well.

What will be music to the Anfield faithful’s ears is that the Reds are set to make their first signing of the summer, with Jeremie Frimpong set to join Liverpool.

Liverpool are hugely interested in signing Florian Wirtz as it is clear to see that the higher-ups at the club have a burning desire to continue witnessing their side lift trophies.

Furthermore, Liverpool have held talks to sign Rayan Cherki as well.

Cherki will leave Lyon at the end of the season and as a result, the Reds have the chance to strengthen their squad by sealing a deal for one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

Fabrizio Romano has more good news for Liverpool, revealing that the Frenchman is open to a move to the Premier League: “My understanding is that not only from Germany but from England, there is interest in Rayan Cherki and the player could be open to a Premier League move. So, that could be a concrete possibility for Rayan Cherki. That could be a solution for this summer transfer window to move to the Premier League.”

“Now, his agent will explore all the opportunities.”

Cherki is on Liverpool’s radar and in case they cannot sign Wirtz, Richard Hughes could make a move for the Lyon technician — who could also be set for moves to the Bundesliga or Serie A in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano added: “But the update today is that the Premier League is an attractive destination for the player.”

“We heard many rumours about Paris Saint-Germain but my understanding is that already in the summer transfer window 2024, in January, many stories but PSG never really entered into advanced negotiations for Rayan Cherki and PSG are not really proceeding with that one.”

The 21-year-old’s talent cannot ever be questioned, with former Lyon boss Pierre Sage telling The Athletic that he is “one of the best in every statistic in Europe.”

European football is well aware of how special a player he is, with Arsenal being keen on signing Cherki apart from Liverpool as well.

However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that despite the youngster’s £19 million release clause, Lyon will demand a fee to sell the jewel in their crown: “Rayan Cherki is going to leave Olympique Lyon, we know that. My understanding is that we have to forget about the release clause as a traditional clause.”

“It’s not about going there, putting the money and getting the player, that’s what Borussia Dortmund tried to do in the January window but Olympique Lyon insisted that the clause is not valid. In France, the clause is not official so you need to negotiate with Olympique Lyon to get Rayan Cherki.”
