Radu Dragusin sends rousing message to Tottenham fans ahead of Europa League final against Man Utd

Tonight’s Europa League final could be seen as the most important game for both Tottenham and Manchester United.

Both managers are under a level of pressure to deliver in the face of the domestic disappointment.

Ange Postecoglou’s side currently sit 17th in the Premier League, on 38 points. With just one game left, this will be Tottenham’s worst positional finish and points tally in a 20-game season.

Yet astonishingly, they may still play Champions League football in the 2025/26 campaign.

A win over Manchester United in Bilbao would end a 17-year wait for a major trophy, and injured defender Radu Dragusin has issued a rallying cry to Spurs supporters via Instagram.

Radu Dragusin sends ‘tough’ Spurs message

Dragusin signed for Tottenham in January 2024 from Italian side Genoa for around £25 million.

Today, the Romanian has again taken to Instagram to issue a strong message to Spurs fans ahead of the final.

“We’ve fought together and earned our spot in the final. I’m proud of this team”, said Tottenham’s no.6. “It’s hard to miss a night like this, but football teaches resilience. Let’s go finish the job. COYS”.

This is indicative of the kind of mentality that will be required from Spurs if they are to beat a Manchester United team still yet to lose a game in this season’s Europa League.

Despite questions arising this season over a potential lack of leaders in their dressing room, Tottenham will be eager to take the game to United and play with the intensity that was once synonymous with ‘Ange-ball’.

Postecoglou’s team selection will be influenced by a number of injuries, however.

The Lilywhites will be without Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and the aforementioned Dragusin.

Why is Dragusin missing the Europa League final?

Still only 23 years of age, Radu Dragusin’s Tottenham career has been heavily blighted by injury.

His latest setback came during February’s Europa League victory over Elfsborg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Dragusin suffered an ACL injury that would require surgery.

This week, supporters were updated on his recovery progress, as Dragusin announced he is back in solo training, via Instagram.

But the final comes too soon for him, and he will be watching on from the stands at the Estadio de San Mames tonight.

Dragusin will be hoping that his teammates can get over the line and deliver Ange Postecoglou’s infamous promise to ‘always win things in his second season’.

Spurs are, however, boosted by Heung Min-Son’s return to full fitness. With only a year left on his current contract, Europa League glory would be a ‘dream come true’ for Son.
