Is a decision on the horizon for the Bayern Munich transfer target?
Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC might not have to wait that much longer to get a decision from Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
According to kicker journalist Frank Linkesch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Wirtz and his family are settling to make up their minds:
Florian Wirtz is expected to make his decision within 10 days at the latest. Sources at Bayern are convinced that there’s currently no threat from Spain (Real Madrid) and that Wirtz’s decision will be between them and Liverpool. LFC are said to have made a big impression on Wirtz’s family and are ready to ‘go to the limit’ to sign him, just like Bayern. Vincent Kompany has had lengthy discussions with Wirtz about his potential role if he were to join Bayern.
Interestingly, Bayern Munich is not going to splurge on a “Plan B” type player if Wirtz opts to move to Liverpool or stay put at Bayer Leverkusen for another season:
Bayern are currently not pursuing a concrete plan B for Wirtz. If the player’s decision is negative, they would look to quickly extend Leroy Sané’s contract, hence they’re keeping the door open for the 29-year old winger.
At this stage, it seems as if Wirtz wants to leave and has his primary destinations determined. That is not the hard part, though. Attempting to make a deal with Bayer Leverkusen will be a major obstacle, especially for Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich’s season is over, but we have plenty to talk about. Let’s discuss how we feel about the season and why fan expectations will be higher in 2025/26. We’ll also hit on Harry Kane’s statements, which seem to indicate that he could extend his contract, while also giving a breakdown of Bayern Munich’s big contract/transfer situations. Finally, we touch on Uli Hoeneß proving he has not lost a step with the media as he provided some commentary on the Florian Wirtz transfer saga. You can get the podcast on Patreon, Spotify, or below:
