Arsenal have some new contracts to sort out.

Raphinha commits to Barcelona until June 2028Raphinha could have been playing for Tottenham

Thomas Partey is yet to sign a new deal as he nears free agency in June, while Arsenal are in talks with Leandro Trossard over fresh terms, as his contract expires in June 2027.

However, Jorginho will not be penning a new deal – the Italy international is heading to Flamengo on a free transfer.

Elsewhere, a player Arsenal wanted to sign this summer in Raphinha has now signed a new contract himself at Barcelona.

Raphinha commits to Barcelona until June 2028

The Spanish giants have now announced that the Brazilian has signed a new deal after a stunning 2024/25 campaign, in which he has scored 34 goals and provided 25 assists in 56 appearances.

It comes after sources informed TBR Football that intermediaries had told Arsenal there was a chance of signing Raphinha this summer in an £80m deal, due to the uncertainty surrounding his contract.

Despite those discussions, it was also made clear that the Brazilian would ideally like to stay in Catalonia if a breakthrough in contract talks could be found, something which has now happened.

Arsenal even wanted to sign Raphinha back in the summer of 2022 before his eventual £55m move to Barcelona, so the Gunners are clearly huge admirers of the 28-year-old.

Raphinha could have been playing for Tottenham

Had the decision makers at Spurs thought differently in the summer of 2022, the Barcelona No.11 could have moved to N17.

Insiders claim that Tottenham picked Richarlison instead of Raphinha, signing the attacker in a £60m move from Everton.

That is obviously £5m more than Barcelona handed Leeds for Raphinha, so Spurs may well have been able to outbid the Spanish giants had they decided to pursue him instead of Richarlison.

Ultimately, Tottenham fans will not care one bit about that saga at the moment, after the Brazil international started in Bilbao and helped Spurs beat Manchester United to the UEFA Europa League.
